“.. An Arch of the Rainbow…”
The romantism of eras gone by, Byzantine, Ottoman, Austrian Hungarian, Illyrian, one can still see remnants of the glorious pasts in Bosnia….
Not hard to imagine warriors with jewels encrusted swords, with bows and sharp arrows staring out the garrison through arrow slit windows, maidens looking out the deep set iron grilled windows at romantic poets languishing on the old bridge edge strumming their stringed musical instruments, singing odes to the maidens. Skilled craftsmen busy hammering away creating works of art and of utility…..
Note that the tower is shaped angled on one side and round on the other, due to North wind bearing down the area and better visibility for look out. Talk about fenshui in the medieval times! 😉

I have always been captivated by the architecture of medieval times. Bosnia, being the gateway for so many cultures as they expanded across the land, is unique in its layering of history. Enjoyed this very much 😊
