Tale of the wood artisans in Konjic ….Part I
Providentially, there still exist 2 families descended from one of the famous wood artisans, each with their unique styles though using similar traditional techniques.
Most of the wood pieces crafted here are beautiful cherry wood, lovely walnut and of course the magnificent oak wood.
For those who, like us, enjoyed items which are lovingly and skillfully hand crafted piece by piece, …….

Thank you very much – am so glad you liked my post and the ideas too! I love artisan crafts and the woodwork on the Konjic pieces is so beautiful. I have an antique carved oak dining table that was my grandmother’s, which I had sent out from England. If I lived in Bosnia I would love to buy some of those beautiful pieces! Hope you’ve had a great weekend too ๐

So kind of you! Thanks for your comments. They mean a lot to me. I believe beautiful people do not just happen. They evolve from a grain of beauty, but it’s life itself that polish them like gems. You seem to be one and I’m glad I’ve discovered your global residence.

Likewise for your beautiful comments, Camilia! ๐ ๐ ๐
Your belief reminds me of a great quote from Confucius : “The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials.”

Truly impressive, would love to own a piece of furniture built by them myself. Is it expensive? Do they have a website?

Dear Steve,
Many many thanks for passing by! ๐
the pieces are truly handcrafted and are usually made of walnut , cherry or other quality wood, these have not only won awards overseas, they are also recognized by UNESCO as skills to be preserved. My pix did not do these justice. As for pricing, it is definitely not IKEA pricing but I think you would find their prices competitive amongst Europe for its quality.
In Bosnia, there are also factory-made furniture due to availability of resources here, though most furniture are usually exported overseas. I hope to do a post of that, too. ๐ As for their website, will try to find out and let you know. wishing you a great week ahead! ๐
