Every year, I tell my daughter that we might not have a birthday party next year. That the most important thing is that we have each other and our health. I felt that it was detriment to her well-being to know that ….

“Not everything in life one have to have. If it is very important, one can always work towards it.”

This year, we planned her birthday celebration a week after and we did not tell her until 2 days before the event. I am most proud that my daughter accepted the fact of no birthday party with stoic bravery. She made me laugh when she said she didn’t mind not having a party but when her friends started to ask her details of her birthday party. Her exact words: ” Earth, swallow me!” with a comical expression cracked me up. Her friends asked a day before her birthday. Used to giving, she had difficulty not having any to give. Other than that she was okay with a homemade meringue for her birthday.

You can imagine her surprise when we told her that she would be having her birthday party after all!

For her birthday cake, we ordered from the very same cake shop that we had previously ordered thrice from.

What can we say, excepting that we find ourselves very blessed to find a baker who is as thrilled as us over the creation of the birthday cake and the event.  Every time, we sent in our request, she and her team members would always be up for the challenge. This year, the baker and her team again exceeds our expectations.

My daughter’s excited squeals when she saw the cake, ” On my god! My cake is a carriage!!!” The children vying each other for the different parts of the cake and the floating balloons, the adults getting comfy and having a cozy chat made this a perfect event.
