“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.” – Mark Twain

Mark Twain’s words describes my sentiments perfectly wherever we resided or are residing, in Singapore, New York, Kuwait, or Bosnia….

Therefore, it is with this in mind, we hope that this will not just provide information of value but more……

Warmest regards,

From a family currently residing in the city of Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina.

It has been observed that many people thought that to preserve their culture would be to alienate all that is strange and new and yet there are others who thought that preservation is best throwing away or destroying anything old.

In retrospect, perhaps part of culture preservation should be that of something more, that which can neither be seen or heard but felt.

A certain je ne sais quoi  ….. Maybe the ability to improvise & innovate, possibly the indomitable spirit of humans with the ability to rise up despite incredible  challenges, or even the ability to empathize thus enabling to create simple but effective solutions to help many….

Possibly perchance through these experiences and understanding these hidden treasures, one can bring a different kind of souvenir back to wherever one calls home  …….

Provide a unique and invaluable insight to the rich diversity culture of current residence, i.e. Bosnia & Herzegovina.

  2. Thank you for stopping by at Willy Nilly! I have many memories of Bosnia. Flying over the countryside or riding in a convoy, I was mesmerized by the scenery, people, culture, and land. Of course, my visit was under martial circumstance during sad times for the country; but, having met the people, I knew the beauty of it could not be suppressed. My blog doesn’t reflect that, maybe it should 🙂

    • Dear Willy Nilly,
Thank you for your comment. Your article on Bosnia was a great depiction of your moment in time in Bosnia in different times. You captured it with great precision. It is never too late to travel back here to enjoy the beauty of Bosnia, though! 🙂
Thanks for following my blog, if there are informations in regards to traveling in Bosnia that you wish to know, do let me know. Will try my best to provide it. Many regards.

  4. hi ,I’m Joe.
We,three of Taiwanese, were lucky that met you at Mostar’s old street.
Your Blog is really helpful to know Mostar.
I was learned about art and craft and also like handmade.I saw a lot of copper plates with beautiful pattern in Mostar,I would like to know about the tradition skill or possible to learn from them?Would you please giving me some information about that?Thank you so much.

    • Dear Joe, thank you so much for your comments. :). So happy to know that you find my blog helpful. Currently, I know a few shops that are making those copper pieces in the traditionally style which can be traced back to medieval times, thus they are regarded by UNESCO as skills to be preserved. In regards to your wishes, will check and get back to you as soon as I can. Many regards.

      • K. Thank you 🙂 I really appreciate your blog on Bosnia. For me it was one of the few missions that left me hoping our international effort helped bring the peace needed so that the Balkans could return to its glorious past. To see your blog and discover such a positive message is an answered prayer. Alis Jusic at Bosnianbeautypic.worpress.com also has very nice pictures and posts of Bosnia. I am happy to follow you both and admire your desire to show the beauty of that magical land and its people. Such a rich history.
