Handcrafted chocolates, delicious muffins, exotic orchids ….

When you see abundance of flowers selling on the streets and in every possible shops in Bosnia & Herzegovina, it is very apparent to all that Women’s Day has arrived. Valentine’s Day is celebrated here as well as Teachers’ Day but this is the day to celebrate not just with mothers, teachers, but with all women in each individual’s respective life.

Traditionally, it is the most celebrated amongst the three events. Flowers are given customarily to women. Gifts are sometimes given instead. Flowers don’t come in bouquet forms necessarily. They also come in little pots. Working women sometimes are given gifts from their employers. School children usually bring small gifts to their teachers. Or in our case, parents with children in the same class got together to get gifts for the class teachers. It is always a great excuse to visit one’s favourite chocolate boutique! 😉

I was most delighted to receive a red rose from one of the cafes I regularly frequented. 😊

What better way to start a day than with a great coffee, catching up with lady friends and receiving a rose @ one of your favourite cafe!

Wishing all ladies A HAppy Women’s Day! 💋

Resting Food Places along Jablanica Town

Resting Food Places along Jablanica Town

Modernization in many Europe areas comes with a price. If one is fortunate, one is able to experience the remnants of authentic Middle Ages. Nothing to patch-up, if you catch my drift. That things have been done the same way since Middle Ages and have remained relatively untouched for many a centuries. The resting tavern by the main travelling road that still have the tradition of roasting the whole cattle on a stake. In the old days, both the stake that pierce through the meat and the water-mill wheel would have been made of wood. Nowadays, it is of course made of metal. With a little imagination, one can whisk oneself back through time.

And if eating meat is healthy, this must be one of the best way.😉  Grass fed cattle, turning over the spit fire powered by a water-mill, slowly cooked to perfection, only to melt in your mouth…

So artists, … writers, …. painters or people who just love stories, take your time to revel in the atmosphere and with just a little imagination ……,

Tale of the wood artisans in Konjic ….Part I

Wood Artisans in Konjic

Wood Artisans in Konjic

The idyllic town of Konjic is well known among the locals for its famous wood artisans historically.

Providentially, there still exist 2 families descended from one of the famous wood artisans, each with their unique styles though using similar traditional techniques.

Most of the wood pieces crafted here are beautiful cherry wood, lovely walnut and of course the magnificent oak wood.

For those who, like us, enjoyed items which are lovingly and skillfully hand crafted piece by piece, …….
